What Chebukati meant but didn’t outrightly say.

By: Gabriel Oguda: Facebook

Three things Wafula Chebukati has said in his afternoon press statement, without actually saying them:

One.

That everything Dr. Roselyn Kwamboka Akombe said in her resignation letter is true. The IEBC Chairperson is a man currently under siege by commissioners who have already taken political sides. The I in IEBC, which used to stand for Independent, has now been replaced by Impotent.

Two.

There will be no elections next week Thursday, unless the IEBC staff, whose credibility have been put in question, resign. He is not ready to preside over an exercise with team-members whose conduct have become irredeemable in the eyes of the public.

Three.

People are asking him to resign. It is an option on his table that he has explored. But he will not resign just yet before he meets Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta for crunch talks. If the two do not agree to meet him, or if they meet and no way forward will be agreed upon, Wafula Chebukati will resign.

In short, Wafula Chebukati has actually resigned without actually resigning.

Got it?
